There is a great deal of interest in stem cells and their use in medical research and therapy. There is also interest in cloning and the two subjects are closely related. Sam begins with the basics--answering the "what, where, why and how" questions surrounding both cloning and stem cells, with an emphasis on the new manufactured stem cells called iPS. He then applies this information to current medical research regarding cancer, diabetes, Parkinson's disease and many other medical conditions. The Cloning and Stem Cell Basics program is designed for high school students but can be customized for any age and educational background. It generally lasts 90 minutes but can be customized to fit the occasion.
